Knee Surgery Update

Well, she finally got over the misery of the first surgery. The right knee still hurts sometimes but not as bad as before the surgery. We went to Branson, MO last week with Deb's parents and saw 9 shows in 6 days. Now Deby's left knee hurts quite a bit. Well, she goes into have it replaced on Monday so after another 6 weeks of recovery she hopes that 2009 is going to be a lot better year.

Deby's home from the hospital

Well I got to bring Deby home from the hospital on Saturday. They decided to send her home with oxygen since she couldn't keep enough in her body at the hospital. The knee surgery went great but I am a little worried about what is going on with the rest of her. She usually recovers from surgery quite quickly. When she has had babies, ankle surgery, knee surgery, etc she always is very perky and upbeat very quickly. I am always surprised at how fast she recovers. This time she has been pretty much out of it since last Wednesday. She sleeps a lot, is very groggy, and falls asleep right in the middle of conversations. That just isn't like her. I am home all week with her so we will see how things go the rest of the week. Thanks for the visits and calls of concerns from everyone. I am going to post a picture of the machine she is in and also the knee.

So this is my first post since Jamie set this up for us. I just wanted to give an update on Deby's knee surgery. She had her right knee replaced yesterday (Wednesday, September 3rd). It went really well. The doctor said she has really strong bones but that her knee was completely worn out. Both he and his assistant were surprised she has gone so long with the pain and not gotten this done earlier. I think she was waiting for Dr. Rasmussen to get on our insurance program. She has really liked him. He did some surgeries on her ankle after she broke it.
Deby slept most of yesterday and then woke up at 2:00 this morning and has been awake every since. She would be mad if she knew I said this but when I went in this morning a couple of tears started to flow because of the pain. Deby handles pain very well (she married me) and so if the tears come then she is in a lot of pain. Hopefully she will come home on Saturday or Sunday. I will keep you posted. Thanks for the calls and concerns.
